General Overview of the Position
To provide an onsite and remote IT support service to Primary Schools as a Primary Services Network Engineer. As a primary services engineer you should work towards fulfilling the main duties and responsibilities as listed below, both individually and as part of a wider team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Provide first and second line support to staff and students in agreed schools both during scheduled visits and remote support.
- Monitor and maintain cases in the Helpdesk systems in place to ensure there is a prompt response to users’ requests for support whilst on site.
- Monitor backups, server resources, windows updates and AV updates on allocated sites and log any issues for resolution, either by yourself or another member of the Team.
- Ensure that software and hardware is maintained and is in good working order, including undertaking repairs/modifications/upgrades within own capabilities
- Support staff in using software and devices effectively
- Contribute to the management and development of each school’s infrastructure, through the input of ideas and knowledge regarding developments in ICT generally
- Undertake appropriate training, both technical and non-technical to ensure that skills remain in line with job requirements
- Maintain high professional standards of attendance, punctuality, appearance, conduct and positive, courteous relations with students, parents and colleagues.
- Manage own time and liaise with the customer of any changes to scheduled visits
- Manage communication between apprenticeship provider and line manager
- Contribute to documentation creation an upkeep to ensure accurate records are maintained of customer information.
Education/Qualifications
Essential:
- 5 GCSE’s A-C equivalent
Desirable:
- GCSE in ICT, Maths and English
- IT Level 3 or 4 Apprenticeship pass
- Degree qualified in an IT professional qualification.
- ITIL v3/4
Experience
Essential:
- Experience working in a customer service role.
- 1 years’ experience delivering IT to end customers.
- Experience working in a similar role
Skills/Knowledge

- MS Office skills
- Windows Operating Systems
- Good understanding of IT infrastructure
Desirable:
- Windows Server Configuration skills
- Network (switch) administration
- Wireless Network administration
- Endpoint Protection administration
- Understanding of classroom technology
- Server Backup Solutions
- Windows Client and peripheral problem resolution skills
- Active Directory administration skills
- Group Policy Administration Skills
